James Rizzi was chosen
by the Academy as 1998
Sport Artist of the Year. The
award is presented to an
individual who captures the
spirit and life of sports so that
future generations can relive
the drama of today's competition.




TollWood Festival, München, Germany: Rizzi's painting, Life Inside the Big Apple, was the inspiration for the stage production, All About Eve - And What About Adam. Enlarged to a height of sixty feet, the painting served as the backdrop for the play.

Hannover 2000, City of Braunschweig, Germany: Inspired by Rizzi's cityscapes, a complex of three buildings is being developed to coincide with the year 2000 World's Fair. The buildings will be constructed in his classic style animated with human features, expressions and clothing.
1997
International Olympic Committee:
James Rizzi was Commissioned by Juan Antonio
Samaranch, President of the
International Olympic Committee,
to create an image incorporating
the history of the modern
Olympic games.




1996
He designed the exterior of a Lufthansa Boeing 757 aircraft for subsidiary airline Condor in celebration of their 40th anniversary. The plane was painted in Hamburg at Lufthansa's facility and unveiled in Frankfurt, Germany.
